Kelfer 500mg capsule

Kelfer 500 mg is a pharmaceutical preparation used orally that has Deferiprone (500 mg) in one capsule from Cipla Ltd.

Iron Overload: Is indicated for treating excessive iron Kelfer 500mg capsule overload resulting from multiple transfusions in cases of transfusion-dependent thalassaemia and other forms of anaemia.

Protection of Vital Organs: It binds to the excessive Kelfer 500mg capsule in pakistan iron ions in the blood and tissues to form a soluble complex which is then eliminated through the urinary system and prevents organ dysfunction, such as in the case of heart or liver.

Dose: The usual recommended dose is a total of 75 mg/kg/day divided into 2 or 4 doses.

Ingestion: It can be ingested without any food restrictions (taking this drug during meals may prevent gastric upset).

Ingestion method: The capsules should be taken whole with water, not chewed.

Common adverse effects: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and pain in the joints.

Discoloration of Urine: This red/brown discolouration of the urine occurs because of the elimination of iron ions in the urine.

Important adverse effect: It may cause lowering of the WBC and neutro phil count in blood (neutro penia/agran ulocytosis) and the patient needs blood count control.

Contraindications: It is not indicated in children under 2 years, pregnant.
