Description
The main substance contained in Tofranil 25mg tablet is Imipramine hydrochloride, a member of the drug group called tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs). The action of the drug is based on increasing the concentration of certain neurotransmitters (such as serotonin and norepinephrine) in the brain to control mood and the activity of the bladder.
Symptoms of depression treatment: improves mood, sleep, appetite, and energy level. Nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting): relaxes the muscle of the bladder and makes the sleep lighter for children over 5 years old. Other uses: may be prescribed to control anxiety and panic disorder or chronic nerve pain.
For Depression (adult patients): initial dosage is 75 mg per day and may be increased by the doctor; can be taken once a day or several times during the day. For Nocturnal Enuresis (children): initial dosage is 2 tofranil 25mg 5 mg/day and should be taken one hour before going to sleep.
